Hi folks,

Just a quick post to ask if anyone's had problems with Mass Effect 2's direct download from Gamestop?

4+ hours to download, then the game fails with this oh-so-illuminating message: Installation failed.

I sent in a trouble ticket -- got a robot reply -- and repeated replies to the "reply to this addy if you have additional questions" goes unheeded.

I think this grand experiment of direct downloadable content by publishers is failing miserably right now. Neither ME2 nor STO has successfully downloaded correctly to my Win7 high-end machine. Even EVE-Online's direct downloader fails, and it's been the most reliable of anything.

So...ME2 Direct Download from Gamestop...no joy...any thoughts?

i got mine hard-copy, that's the only way i get games anymore. the internet isn't nearly reliable enough to get much of anything; i also find that nine times out of ten a direct download fails with newer stuff for some reason

You seem to be having all kinds for problems with that Comp. of yours Sghn. I'm starting to think its time you give that lemon to the shit can gods and get a new one.

Just get a hard copy and get your money back on the download thing just cry faulty and make up some stuff most of the people working in the clames department dont get payed enough to care really and you should normally get your money back its how i got MW2 (even if it is shit) the first time for free downloaded to steam kept CD key and get a full refund.

On another note to stop the horrendous 2+ min loading times mostly going from deck to deck on the Normandy alt-tab out of game goto task manager "masseffect2.exe" and click set affinity now set it so only core0 is selected with a tick by it and hit apply then goto set affinity again and make sure all cores are being used now your loading times will go from 2ish mins to about 5 seconds going from deck to deck

oh and you goto do that every time you load the game to my knowledge

I did in fact go down to best buy and grab a DVD of ME2. There are a few crashes but the game seems to recover gracefully.

@ ronin I think you're right -- I think there might be something wrong with my NIC or HDDs cause I downloaded my ME2 to my Macbook pro and it installed fine.

@ stogie I'm not getting those terrible load times but that's a good tip and I'm stashin it under me pillow.
