I hear that one the most, but there are good reasons to mix your load to handle a mix of ships being thrown at you.

Everyone quotes it, but no one says why: "Don't mix guns"...

That's not true - I got a better DPS with a mixed load once.

No - only by changing my guns from "mixed" to homogeneous - did I lose DPS
